Accepting, holding, and accounting for Bitcoin — organizations face different questions than individuals: Who manages the keys? How does a payment enter the books? And what does the tax advisor say? This workshop series answers them, hands-on and vendor-neutral.

For businesses

A confirmed Bitcoin payment is final — no chargebacks, no payment processor in between. In the workshop you learn how acceptance works in practice: Lightning payments at the register, solutions like BTCPay Server for retail and e-commerce, automatic euro conversion for anyone who does not want to carry exchange-rate risk. Plus the questions that matter in day-to-day operations: handling price swings, documentation for accounting, and the tax framework in Austria.*

For nonprofit organizations

Bitcoin donations open a global donation channel — no correspondent banks, full control over your funds. The workshop covers the practice: accepting and holding donations safely, setting up an internal Bitcoin policy, recording donations correctly as in-kind donations, and providing transparency to donors. Organizations like Caritas Wien, SOS Kinderdorf, and Jugend Eine Welt already accept Bitcoin donations.

Bitcoin Austria funds itself exclusively through Bitcoin donations.

Where planning stands

The series is currently in development. Unlike the Base Layer series for individuals, it is not a fixed program: contents and focus follow your organization. Our guides for businesses and for nonprofits already cover the fundamentals.

*The workshops are not tax, legal, or business consulting. We explain the technology and the economics behind it. Clarify specific tax and legal questions with your tax or legal advisor.
