Earthquakes in Venezuela: Bitcoin Donations That Arrive Directly

On June 24, 2026, two major earthquakes struck Venezuela. A magnitude 7.2 quake hit first, followed 39 seconds later by a magnitude 7.5, the strongest in the country in over a hundred years. The earthquakes claimed many lives and injured thousands. Many people are still missing.

Jugend Eine Welt, an Austrian organization, has been collecting Bitcoin donations since 2015 and has now issued an appeal to help those affected. The donations go straight into humanitarian aid through long-standing local partner organizations.

Venezuela has struggled for years with a collapsed banking system and hyperinflation. That is exactly where it matters that help arrives without detours. Bitcoin moves value freely across borders: on-chain for larger amounts, over Lightning in seconds. It does not need a working banking system or middlemen.
